METOCEAN designed the air-deployed, Self Locating Datum Marker Buoy (SLDMB) specifically to meet all of the performance requirements established by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) for Search and Rescue (SAR) operations in the open ocean. The drogue of this SLDMB is shorter than that of the standard Davis drifter; all other buoy dimensions remain approximately the same. The SLDMB contains a GPS receiver to determine position and an ARGOS satellite transmitter.

Our SLDMB is certified for air deployment from all types of USCG aircraft, both fixed wing and rotary wing.
