METOCEAN Receives NOAA VMS Approval (March 13, 2006)

(Dartmouth, NS) March 13th, 2006 – Tony Chedrawy, President of Martec METOCEAN Data Systems is pleased to announce that the National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS), and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have approved the METOCEAN MetTrac, Vessel Monitoring System (VMS), for sale in the United States.
The MetTrac suite consists of a bi-directional satellite communicator, which transmits a vessel position report at specified intervals, a satellite communicator, a waterproof antenna, and an external battery pack in case of power failure.
The use of Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) to automatically plot the positions of fishing vessels has been adopted in several countries. The MetTrac is an innovative product that not only acts as an vessel monitoring system, but it also utilized as an essential safety feature for all fisherman at sea.
